Gastronomy is one of Zarautz’s main tourist attractions. This is due to contributions from famous chefs like Karlos Argiñano and a long list of restaurants which expertly prepare all the typical dishes of Zarautz: Baby squid served in their own ink and Pelayo-style, hake in parsley sauce, grilled sardines and sea bream, crab, etc.
Visitors will enjoy a healthy and varied cuisine, with seasonal fish and vegetables. All of which are top quality products that can be tasted in the traditional way, in the haute cuisine style with original creations or in small mouthfuls, with our delicious pintxos.
The local wine, Txakoli, is ideal to accompany our dishes. It is a white wine which is fresh, light and slightly sparkling with a slight acidity. Produced under the Getariako Txakolina Designation of Origen, it is considered one of the Txakoli wines of the highest quality. We recommend you drink it to accompany some salted anchovies and local white tuna.
